Startup University was initially started in 2017 as a private, equity-free advisory service for early-stage startups and solopreneurs navigating the complexities of business development and personal leadership. More recently, we’ve radically redirected ourselves to serve high-potential high school student leaders, not “at-risk students”. We have a strong opposition to the term “at-risk”. We find it belittling, offensive, and marginalizing. It’s our firm belief that the term “at-risk” is not only a swear word within SU, but also in a very subtle way undermines the capability of young leaders, achievers, and innovators. We are developing a new model and culture of integrity-based, people-centered, critical thinkers pushing beyond limits imposed upon them by outside narratives.
We’re creating a new pipeline. A pipeline that being with personal leadership and developing a life vision. We serve high-potential high school students, NOT “at-risk” youth.
